Celebrating Our Direct Support Professionals Home > Blog > Celebrating Our Direct Support Professionals A A A Share on Social MediafacebooklinkedinBy Marisa Geitner, President & C.E.O. September gave us a special opportunity to shine a light on—and say thank you to—our wonderful staff during Direct Support Professional Recognition Week. Of course, we celebrate their invaluable contributions every week of the year. In my keynote address at September’s Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce Inclusive Leadership Award celebration, I shared how direct support professionals do far more than provide assistance; they build trusted relationships, recognize each person’s strengths and help open doors to fuller participation in community life. I shared a similar message in the media alongside a talented residence manager, Diamond Jones. As the need for qualified direct support professionals continues to grow, we must carry this message forward all year long. We need to keep reminding people that side-by-side care matters not only to the person receiving support, but to the strength of our entire community. When every person’s dignity, contribution and potential are seen and valued, we elevate care and reflect Christ’s inclusive love for all people. Share on Social Mediafacebooklinkedin
