Each volunteer opportunity has a different time commitment. Heritage Christian Stables asks horse leaders and side walkers for a commitment of once a week for a full 8- to 12-week session. Our thrift store manager also asks for a weekly commitment. Events are one day only. How do I start the process of volunteering? Please start by submitting your interest form on the Heritage Christian Services website. The process that follows is: Application Interview Reference checks PPD (if needed) What is a PPD? And do I need one? A PPD is a tuberculosis skin test required by law for a small number of the volunteer opportunities that we offer. Typically, this is only needed if you are working directly with people who choose our services. We will let you know if you’ll be needing one. Can my young children volunteer? We have opportunities that work well for families. Children 14 years and older are able to volunteer at the Stables, and those age 16 and older can volunteer independently at A Second Thought Resale Shop. My high school age child has a volunteer requirement for school. Will someone be able to sign off on his paperwork? Absolutely! Do you offer opportunities for court mandated volunteer hours? Yes, we do. However, all court mandated volunteers MUST come to us through the County Office of Probation.
